Nick Rabasco was selected to the Morning Call’s 2012 All-Area First Team for the second straight year.  Nick was Parkland’s leadoff hitter and second baseman.  He led the team with 36 hits and hit a team-best .500 with seven doubles, three triples, one home run, 27 runs and 14 RBIs.  He posted a .556 on-base percentage and .722 slugging percentage.  Nick will continue his baseball career at Division I NJIT next season.

Senior pitcher Matt Hurd and Junior catcher Damin Muth were named to the Morning Call’s 2012 All-Area Second Team.  Hurd led the Parkland pitching staff this year with a record of 6-1 and a 1.97 ERA.  Matt pitched two complete games with one shutout.  Matt will continue his baseball career at Bloomsburg University next season.  Muth had a batting average of .406 with five doubles, three triples, and one homerun.  Damin led the team with 20 RBI’s and also had a .506 on-base percentage.  Damin returns to the team next season for his senior year.

Freshman shortstop Chris Rabasco received honorable mention from the Morning Call’s 2012 All-Area Baseball Team.  Chris had a batting average of .391 with six doubles, 15 RBI’s, and 15 runs scored.  Rabasco also had four relief pitching appearances collecting a 2.00 ERA and seven strikeouts in seven innings of work.  Chris returns to the team next season for his sophomore year.

Hurd Selected Parkland's Pitcher of the Year

Senior pitcher Matt Hurd was selected as Parkland's Pitcher of the Year at tonight's athletic awards ceremony at Parkland High School.  Head Coach Tony Galucy handed out the award as he honored the accomplishments of the 2012 varsity team.  Hurd, also named the top pitcher in the Lehigh Valley Conference, finished the season with a record of 6-1 and an ERA of 1.97 and 39 strikeouts.   Hurd will be attending Bloomsburg University in the fall and pitching for the Huskies next season.

Senior first baseman Kyle Stinner was named Scholar-Athlete for baseball at tonight's Athletic Awards Ceremony at Parkland High School.  Stinner was honored by acting-Principal Harrison Bailey along with fellow Scholar-Athletes from other Parkland sports.  The award honors athletes that exhibit outstanding academic achievement in the classroom.  Stinner will be attending the University of Pittsburgh in the fall.
