Parkland High School Baseball

Freshman Connor Higgins pitched a complete game (5 innings), 1-hit shutout against visiting Allen today.   Higgins dominated Allen batters striking out eleven.  At the plate, Alex Flynn was 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI's.  Andrew Lessel was 1-for-1 and Brad Vasilik was 2-for-4.  Evan McAndrew and Rhett Jacoby each added a double to the Parkland offense.  Jacoby had 3 RBI's.

After a slow start through the first three innings of play, the Parkland Trojans put 5 runs on the board in the 4th inning and again in the 5th inning to beat Becahi 10-0 in a 5-inning game.  Starting pitcher Matt Hurd scattered three hits and struck out four in four innings of work.  Reliever Tyler Duff worked the final 5th inning striking out one.  The 4th inning rally began with three consecutive singles by Brandon Evans (2-4, R) and Damin Muth  (2-2, 2 R, BB) followed by an RBI single by Tyler Graeff (1-3, R, RBI) to make it 1-0.  After an RBI groundout by Brian Zesch, Cody Callahan (1-3, 2 R, 2 RBI) hit a 2-RBI single for a 4-0 lead.  Kyle Stinner (2-3, R, 3 RBI) then added an RBI single for the 5-0 lead after four innings of play.  After an RBI walk by Zesch in the 5th, Stinner was at it again hitting a single that drove in two more runs.  Nick Rabasco (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI) added a 2-RBI double to increase Parkland's lead to 10-0.  Duff finished off Becahi batters in the bottom of the 5th to end the game.

After falling behind to Becahi 2-0 after one inning of play, the JV Trojans pounded out hits the rest of the game to win 13-2 in another 5-inning game.  Kevin Leaswitch was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Ryan Dumbach was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI's, Connor Higgins was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Rhett Jacoby was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI's, while George Hambel worked the Becahi pitchers for three base-on-balls and scored two runs.  On the mound, Rhett Jacoby settled in after the first inning and worked a total of four innings with four strikeouts, and Zack Miiller came on in the 5th to finish it while striking out one.

Senior pitcher Adam Fye pitched a complete game, scattering four hits and striking out seven batters, and Jacob Rosenblatt (1-4, 2B, 3 RBI) doubled in the winning runs in the 7th inning to lead Parkland over rival Emmaus by a score of 4-3.  Rosenblatt put Parkland up 1-0 in the third inning on an RBI groundout.  In the 5th inning, Nick Rabasco (3-4, 3B, 3 R) led off with a triple and later scored on a Tyler Graeff sacrifice fly to give the Trojans a 2-1 lead.  After the Hornets took a 3-2 after 6 innings of play, the Trojans put runners on first and second with one out in the top half of the 7th when Rosenblatt drove a pitch over the centerfielder's head to score two runs and give Parkland the 4-3 lead.  Fye made that lead stand when he pitched a perfect 7th inning to secure the victory.  Other Parkland hits came off the bat of Chris Rabasco (1-3) and Damin Muth (1-2, 2 BB).

Pitcher Gabe Mosser had a stellar performance on the mound today for the JV trojans, pitching five innings and striking out 11 Emmaus batters to lead Parkland to the 12-2 victory.  Rhett Jacoby pitched the final 6th inning to end the mercy-rule shortened game.  At the plate, the Trojans pounded out 11 hits:  Alex Flynn was 1-for-2 with two RBI's, Ryan Dumbach was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI's, Hudson Rabenold was 2-for-3, Connor Higgins was 2-for-3 with a triple and RBI, and Rhett Jacoby was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI's.
