Posted by John Rabasco at Apr 3, 2012 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Trojans downed rival Emmaus today by a score of 6-4 behind solid pitching from starter Tyler Graeff and good relief work from Tyler Duff.  Graeff worked 5 innings, striking out seven.  The Trojans scored in the first inning on a Nick Rabasco (2-4, 2B, 2R, RBI) leadoff double followed by a Brandon Evans RBI double, and then went up 2-0 on an RBI single by Chris Rabasco (2-3, BB, R, RBI).  Parkland added three more runs in the second inning on an RBI double by Jordan Jones and RBI singles by Nick Rabasco and Damin Muth.  Graeff (2-3, RBI) not only pitched well, but contributed to the offense and gave Parkland a 6-0 lead in the fourth when he drove in a run with a single.  Adam Schneck was 1-2 at the plate with a walk.  Emmaus mounted a combeback in the 6th inning.  Tyler Duff came on in relief with the bases loaded and no outs.  Emmaus did manage to score four runs, but Duff worked out of the jam by getting the first out of the inning with a strikeout, then induced a ground ball for an inning ending double play.  Duff worked a perfect 7th to secure the 6-4 victory. image

Hudson Rabenold homered twice for the JV Trojans as they edged the Emmaus Hornets, 5-4.  Rabenold wasted no time getting things going by belting a 2-run homer well over the right field fence in the first inning.  Starting pitcher Zack Miiller worked three innings, striking out three.  After the Hornets took a 4-2 lead, Dan Zaccaro got the Trojans back within one with an RBI hit.  Relief pitcher Justing Afflerbach shutout the Hornets in four innings of work with three strikeouts.  Rabenold did it again, giving the Trojans a 5-4 lead on his second 2-run homer of the game.  The game ended on a fine defensive play where shortstop Gabe Mosser and second baseman Alex Flynn turned a game-ending double play to secure the 5-4 victory.

Trojans Fall to Northampton, 9-7

Posted by John Rabasco at Apr 1, 2012 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Parkland Trojans dug themselves into a 4-0 hole after one inning of play under cold, blustery conditions at Northampton.  The Trojans got themselves right back in the game scoring three runs in the top of the second on a sacrifice fly by Cody Callahan and an RBI single by Damin Muth (3-4, 2B, RBI, R).  Parkland tied the game in the top of the third when Tyler Graeff (2-4, 2B, R) led off with a double and later scored on an RBI groundout by Tim Baranek.  Starting pitcher Adam Fye worked 5 innings, striking out 9, but the Trojans found themselves down again 6-4 after 5 innings of play.  Zach Merkle led off the 6th with a double and later scored on a fielding error on a ground ball off the bat of Callahan to narrow the score to 6-5, but the Trojans allowed three more Northampton runs in the bottom of the 6th to make it 9-5.  The Trojans came out swinging in the top of the 7th with four consecutive hits.  A lead off double by Muth followed by a Chris Rabasco RBI single, then a single by Graeff and RBI single by Jacob Rosenblatt (2-3, BB, RBI, R) brought the score to 9-7, but the Trojan rally would end there.  Pitcher Brian Zesch worked one inning in relief. image

The JV Trojans dominated the Konkrete Kids of Northampton winning 12-0 in a 5-inning mercy rule shortened game.  Pitcher Gabe Mosser was impressive, pitching a one-hit, complete game shutout, striking out 10 batters, and walking none.  Offensively, the Trojans were led by Connor Higgins who went 3-3 with an RBI, and Hudson Rabenold who was 2-3 with 2 RBI.
