Parkland High School Baseball

In the semi-final matchup against Emmaus, pitcher Matt Hurd dominated the Green Hornets allowing only 4 hits and striking out three in gaining the 8-1 victory.  Hurd pitched 6 2/3 innings with Adam Fye coming in to get the final out of the game.  The Trojans had no trouble hitting Emmaus pitcher Pisauro and got on the board early with an RBI single by Tyler Graeff and a 2-RBI single by Nick Rabasco.  Graeff later added another RBI with a sacrifice fly.  At the plate, Derek Freibolin was 2-for-3 and Rabasco was 2-for-4 (2B).  Ben Breiner, Ryan Sutovich, and Jarred Cury added singles, while Jake Rosenblatt had a double.

Senior pitcher Matt Nelson threw a complete game gem in the championship game beating Nazareth 5-1.  Nelson was in control the entire game never allowing Nazareth batters to mount any threats, and Nelson capped off the victory striking out the side in the final inning.  Nelson scattered 4 hits while striking out six.  Parkland's offense was led by DC Castillo who went 4-for-4 at the plate with three singles, double, and RBI.  Jarred Cury was 2-for-2 with a sacrifice bunt, Ryan Sutovich was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI, Ben Breiner was 1-for-2 with an RBI and two sacrifice bunts, and Damin Muth added a single. 

Nick Rabasco, Parkland's Junior second baseman, was selected to the 2011 Lehigh Valley Conference All-Conference Baseball Team.

Dan Shaw, Parkland's Senior pitcher and shortstop, received honorable mention as a utility player for the 2011 Lehigh Valley Conference All-Conference Baseball Team.

Ryan Sutovich, Parkland's Senior first baseman, received honorable mention for the 2011 Lehigh Valley Conference All-Conference Baseball Team.
