The Parkland JV team got its first win of the season beating Whitehall by a score of 7-1.  The team was led by strong pitching from Tyler Cooperman (3 innings) and Tyler Duff (4 innings) along with good hitting.  Tim Baranek had a double and triple and Adam Schneck's drive to left field missed being a homerun by inches hitting the top of the fence and landing for a double.

Shaw Blanks Liberty 3-0

Posted by John Rabasco at Apr 13, 2011 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dan Shaw pitched a complete game shutout leading Parkland to a 3-0 win over Liberty.  Parkland took an early 1-0 lead on Cody Callahan's RBI single, but the game remained a pitching duel between Shaw and Liberty's Jim Sawyer until Parkland got to Sawyer in the 5th inning.  In the top half of the 5th inning with Liberty baserunners in scoring position, Parkland's 1-0 lead was preserved by a spectacular defensive play by second baseman Nick Rabasco who made a diving catch in shallow right field to end the inning.  Parkland batters only managed four hits getting singles by Tyler Graeff, Matt Hurd, Derek Freibolin, and Callahan, but took advantage of Sawyer's late inning control problems.  Ryan Sutovich had an RBI bases loaded walk.

The Parkland JV team took an early 2-0 lead against Liberty, only to see it disappear in the 2nd and 3rd innings where Liberty scored all of its 10 runs.  Brandon Evans had a nice game going 2-2 with a single and double, stolen base, rbi and scored 2 runs.  Parkland's JV team lost to Liberty 10-3.
