LVL 2016 Final Baseball Rankings - click here

Posted by Kevin Roth at Jul 3, 2016 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Lehigh Valley Live 2016 final baseball rankings have placed the Parkland Trojans as the #2 ranked team in the Lehigh Valley.  The Trojans began the season 3-3 and were looking up at a number of teams in the standings.  They went on a 14-3 run in conference games which propelled them to the EPC Skyline Division Championship and a berth to play in their unprecedented fourth consecutive AAAA District XI Final.  It was certainly a year to remember and while all high school teams lose valuable players in graduating its seniors, the Parkland Trojans will return the vast majority of their quality arms and 7 position players with Varsity experience.  The future looks bright for the Red and Gray in the spring of 2017.   image

The 2016 Morning Call All Area Team Named

Posted by Kevin Roth at Jul 2, 2016 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Michael Jenkins leads the 2016 Trojans class of Morning Call All Area Players.  His first team selection adds to his post season awards. Lehigh Valley Live also chose him to their first team. Jenkins  8-1 seasonal record with an ERA of 1.87 were impressive but what earned him the title as Parkland's ace was his dominance against the toughest competition. The righty's seven strikeout shutout against Freedom, a 2 hitter against rival Whitehall, and a masterful performance against the previously unbeaten Bangor team with a 3 hitter in the District XI semi-final emphatically displayed his toughness on the mound.

The following players were honorable mention selections:

As the Trojans lead off hitter, left handed Andrew Roth led Parkland in both hits (29) and runs scored (20).  He was among the EPC leaders in outfield total chances, fielding pct, and stolen bases.  The fleet footed centerfielder was a pitcher's best friend as he made tough plays appear routine and turned what appeared to be extra base hits into outs.

Austin Mueller played many positions during the 2016 season for the Trojans.  A heady offensive player who looks to take the extra base when possible, it was his bat that really made Parkland fans take notice.  A switch hitter, he led the team in batting average (.356), OPS (.940), and his HR against Bangor in the D11 semi-final seemed to be the spark needed to help send the Trojans to the finals.
