News and Announcements

On a cool afternoon the Trojans bats were hot as they banged out 9 hits in a 5-2 a win against Northampton.

In the 2nd inning Kyle Friebolin (1-2, RBI, HBP, Sac) singled and was replaced by John Amato (0-0, R) as a courtesy runner.  Austin Mueller (3-4) and Isaac Neal (2-4) singled to load the bases.  Ryan Giovenco (0-4, RBI) helped his own cause with a ground out to short to score Amato.

The 3rd inning was lead off by Andrew Roth (1-4, 2R, ROE) who reached on an error by the third baseman.  Tyler Bruno (0-3, 2 ROE, BB, R) reached as well as Northampton had its second miscue of the inning.  Friebolin was hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Matt Mellinger (1-3, Sac, 2RBI) hit a deep sacrifice fly which after tagging, Roth scored standing from third.

The 5th inning saw Roth again get on base this time with a hit.  Cullan Wadsworth (1-4, R) bunted for single.  That brought up Bruno who laid down a great bunt of his own.  The throw was wide at first as Northampton tried to throw out the speedy Bruno.  He was safe and the errant throw allowed Roth to score from second.  It also moved Wadsworth to third and Bruno to second.  Friebolin then followed with a sacrifice fly to score Wadsworth, and Mellinger smacked a single to drive in his second run of the game plating Bruno.

The Trojan hurlers looked good as Giovenco (6 inn, 5H, 6K, 2ER) scattered 5 hits over six inning of work to pick up the victory.  Braeden Duff earned the save with a 1-2-3 7th inning as no ball left the infield.

After the first three Trojans were retired in order, Ty Conrad reached base to lead off the 2nd inning after being hit by a pitch. He quickly stole 2nd base and continued to 3rd on a Northampton throwing error. Carson Fracas sacrificed, scoring Conrad, giving the Trojans a 1-0 lead after two.

Starting pitcher Collin Duff (6IP, 1R, 5H, 3BB, 7K) struck out the side in the top half of the 3rd inning, keeping the Kids scoreless. Julian Colon and George Jenkins got the home half of the 3rd inning started with back to back singles and both scored on one out singles by Matt Ervolina and Will Algard, stretching the Trojan lead to 3-0. Three singles in the top of the 4th inning led to a Northampton run while Justin Petrisko doubled but was left stranded in the bottom of the inning, shaving the Trojan lead to 3-1.

Neither team scored over the next two innings with the Trojans leaving four more on base. The Kids threatened in the 7th inning, scoring one run, but with bases loaded, reliever Phil Schoch struck out the final two Northampton batters to seal the Trojan victory.

On May 2nd Parkland Baseball celebrated our Hometown Heroes with an afternoon of baseball and patriotic music.  Army Major Jeffrey Kuklinski was cheered as he threw out the first pitch.  Some tears were shed as American Flags decorated the stadium and music was played in Honor of All our Hometown Heroes.  All proceeds from the game were donated to the Gary Sinise Foundation in the names of Army Specialists Jesse Reed and Adam Keys.  The GSF is a charity that benefits our Military and First Responders.  Please read on below.  imageimageimage
