On February 3rd Parkland High School held a press conference to celebrate the athletic success and college commitments of 12 Parkland athletes.  Among those taking part in the National Letter of Intent signing day event was senior middle infielder Tyler Bruno, who has committed to play baseball for Villanova University.

Tyler’s college search included visits with the coaches at Lafayette College, Westchester University, East Stroudsburg University, and Villanova University.  Within a week’s time he had three offers on the table and it was time to make a decision.  When asked why he chose Villanova, Tyler cited the strong reputation the university has in both academics and athletics.  Coach Godri, while highlighting all of the resources available to the student athletes at Villanova, also stressed the positive impact that a Villanova education will have in preparing Tyler for the 40+ years beyond graduation, whether it be in baseball or any other career field.  Add to that a perfect location, with the campus being close enough for family and friends to visit and attend the Wildcats’ games.  The choice became clear.

Tyler and his family would like to thank his Parkland coaches and teammates as none of this would have been possible without the dedication, training, and support they have offered throughout the years.  Of course a special thanks goes to Coach Weber for his great speech at the ceremony and to his TROJAN teammates in attendance.
