Parkland JV's won the final game of the season for their 8th consecutive win They end the season with a record of 13-7.  Three pitchers combined to shut out Central by a score of 9-0. Ryan Giovenco (4 IP, 4 H, 1 SO, 2 BB), EJ Brandt (2 IP, 2 H, 2 SO, 1 BB), and Harsha Bollu (1 IP, 2 SO, 1BB) combined to keep the Vikings scoreless.

Parkland's offense struck early in the 1st inning when John Amato(1-1, 2 R, 3 BB) led off with a single, Kyle Novobilski (1-4, R, 2b, RBI) hit an RBI double to right to score Amato.  Austin Mueller (1-3, R, RBI) singled up the middle to score Novobilski.  With one out, Michael Jenkins (2-2, R) singled to load the bases.  Ben Trinkle (0-2, RBI, R) grounded into an RBI fielder's choice to score another run to give Parkland the 3-0 lead in the 1st inning.

In the bottom of the second, Central threatened, but Parkland's defense got all three outs at home plate. The Vikings led off with a triple, on a fielders choice Mueller throws to catcher Friebolin to get the first out at the plate. Central then singled back-to-back to load the bases.  A ground ball fielder's choice got the second out at home plate. On a wild pitch, Friebolin flipped the ball to pitcher Giovenco to get the final out at home, ending the threat.

In the top of the third, Parkland added three more runs.  With two outs and a runner on base due to a Central error, Jenkins singled followed by aTrinkle walk to load the bases.  Braeden duff (1-3, 3 RBIs) singled to score to drive in two runs. Ryan Giovenco (1-2, RBI) singled in another run to give the Trojans a 6-0 lead.  Giovenco shut down the Vikings in the third and fourth innings. Bollu singled in the top of the 5th inning and advanced to second and then third on wild pitches.  Duff then plated Bollu on a fielders choice.  In the bottom of the 5th, relief pitcher EJ Brandt allowed a one-out triple then a walk, but got out of the jam by inducing a ground ball for an inning ending 1-6-3 double play to keep the shut out alive.

Parkland added two more runs inthe 6th. Amato led off the inning with a walk and advance to second on a wild pitch, and then moved to third on a ground out by Novobilski.  Amato scored on a fielders choice hit by  Ethan Imler (0-0, RBI).  After another fielders choice and a walk, Bollu singled in another run for the 9-0 lead.  Brandt shut down Central in order in the bottom of the sixth and Bollu finished off the 7th on the mound to complete the shut out.

The Parkland Trojans claimed the LVC North Division Title with a 7-0 shutout victory over Nazareth in the regular season finale.  This is the eighth shutout victory for the Trojan pitching staff this season.  Parkland now moves on to the LVC playoffs slated to begin May 13.

Three Trojans pitchers combined for the one-hit shutout with a total of ten strikeouts.  Starting pitcher Connor Higgins worked four innings for the win, allowing the lone Nazareth base hit while walking two batters and striking out three.  Gabe Mosser pitched the 5th and 6th innings retiring all six batters he faced in order, including striking out the last five batters in a row.  One of those strikeouts did reach first base on a dropped third strike, but Mosser quickly erased the base runner with a pick off.  Mosser reached a varsity career milestone with his 100th strikeout.  Chris Rabasco pitched the 7th inning and retired the three batters he faced in order, including two strikeouts.

Trojan hitters collected 11 hits today, including 5 doubles.  Parkland jumped to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning of play.  Alex Flynn (2-for-2, two 2B, 2 BB, RBI, 2 runs) and Jeff Strisovsky (0-for-2, BB, run) reached base on back-to-back walks.  Rabasco (3-for-4, two 2B, RBI, run) doubled to right field to score Flynn.  Back-to-back sacrifice flys by Zach Miiller (1-for-3, sac fly, RBI, run) and Zach Merkle (2-for-3, 2B, sac fly, 3 RBI) plated Strisovsky and Rabasco for the 3-0 lead.  In the 4th inning, Flynn hit an RBI double to make it 4-0.  Parkland added two more runs in the 5th inning when Miiller singled followed by an RBI double by Merkle.  Hudson Rabenold (1-for-2, BB, RBI) then singled to drive in pinch runner Andrew Roth for the 6-0 Parkland lead after five innings of play.  Parkland added their final run in the 6th inning when Flynn hit his second double of the day and later scored on a Merkle RBI single.  Rhett Jacoby was 1-for-2 at the plate today with a walk and Harrison Rabenold added a pinch hit single in the 7th inning. The Trojans end the regular season with a 15-5 record.
