Posted by John Rabasco on May 02 2011 at 05:00PM PDT in 2019 Varsity

Sophomore starting pitcher Tyler Cooperman earned his first varsity victory with 5 strong innings of work leading the Parkland Trojans to an 11-6 victory over visiting Hazleton.  With a rough night behind them, the Trojans wasted no time getting back on track and on the board with a first pitch homerun by leadoff hitter Derek Freibolin.  Parkland batters enjoyed a good afternoon at the plate, pounding out 15 hits, led by Kyle Stinner (3-4, 2 1B, 2B, RBI), Freibolin (3-5, 1B, 2B, HR, 3 RBI), and Nick Rabasco (3-4, 1B, 2B, 3B, RBI).  Dan Shaw added an RBI double, Ben Breiner a 2-RBI double, Jarrod Cury an RBI single.  Jake Rosenblatt, Matt Hurd, and Damin Muth each added singles to the offensive attack.  Reliever Brian Zesch worked the final two innings to close out the win.

JV's battle back and then hold on to win 9th straight:  Hazleton traveled down the turnpike to play the Trojans.  Hazleton jumped out to 4 -0 lead in the 1st inning off of  Freshman starting pitcher Gabe Mosser.  Freshman Alex Flynn came on in relief in the second inning and held Hazleton scoreless through the 5th.  Meanwhile, a triple by Nate Case and and RBI by Aidan Flynn got the Trojans on the board in the 3rd inning.  In the 5th inning, pitching trouble by Hazleton, an RBI single by Tyle Duff and a 2-RBI single by Jordan Jones helped put Parkland ahead 5-4.  A double steal and some errors by Hazleton helped increase Parkland's lead to 8-5.  Freshman relief pitcher Nate Kern battled a tough hitting lineup and K'd the last batter of the game to secure the exciting 8-7 win.
