The Parkland Trojans won the LVC North Division title today by beating Whitehall by a score of 6-3 in their final regular season game.  The Trojans finished the regular season with an 11-3 conference record and 15-5 overall.  Parkland now moves on to the LVC playoffs which starts Tuesday, May 15.

Parkland jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Whitehall in the top of the 1st inning when Damin Muth (1-for-2, R, BB, sac bunt, RBI) singled home Nick Rabasco (1-for-4, 2 R) and then Chris Rabasco (3-for-4, two doubles, R, 4 RBI) hit a double to bring Muth in for the second run.  Starting pitcher Adam Fye went 4 innings, striking out four and allowing only a first inning run.  Brian Zesch (1-for-2, double, BB) came on to pitch in relief in the 5th inning and held Whitehall scoreless.  The game remained a 2-1 score until the 6th inning when Parkland added two runs to make the score 4-1.  After a Brandon Evans (1-for-4, R) single and a Muth sacrifice bunt, Chris Rabasco hit an RBI double.  Later in the 6th, Jacob Rosenblatt (1-for-3, double, RBI) hit a double to drive in another run.  In the bottom of the 6th, Whitehall put the first three batters on to load the bases with no outs.  Sophomore pitcher Gabe Mosser, a recent call-up from the JV team, then came on in relief to try to get out of the jam.  Whitehall managed two sacrifice flies to score two runs, but Mosser finished the inning with a strikeout to preserve the 4-3 Parkland lead.  In the top of the 7th inning, the Trojans loaded the bases when Adam Schneck (1-for-3, R) and Nick Rabasco singled followed by a Muth walk. Chris Rabasco then hit a 2-RBI single to drive in two runs and increase Parkland’s lead to 6-3.  Although Whitehall put a couple of runners on base in the bottom of the 7th, Mosser induced a ground ball for a double play and got the final out on another ground ball to clinch the victory by a score of 6-3 and earn his first save at the varsity level.
