Parents, Players, & Coaches Improve Baseball Field with Infield Upgrade

Posted by John Rabasco on Nov 16 2012 at 04:00PM PST in 2019 Varsity

Last month, the Parkland Baseball Booster Club held its annual fall field clean up day at the varsity field.  Booster club members worked to rebuild the bullpen mounds, applied fall winterizer/fertilizer over the entire field, cleaned out dugouts, and prepared the batting cage foundation for future installation of turf in the spring.

In recent weeks, the booster club has worked to improve and upgrade the infield with the help of one of its members who is also a professional groundskeeper.  In addition to edging the entire infield and baselines, a lip along the infield grass edge was repaired by removal of the sod containing lip and replaced with new sod.  Today, parents, players, and coaches got together again to complete the infield upgrade by laying down 5 tons of infield conditioner.  The booster club thanks all those that came out to help with this job that involved carrying and emptying 200 bags (50-lbs each) of conditioner, as well as raking it all into the infield.
