Duff Tosses Complete Game Shutout, Leads Parkland to 2-0 Win Over Nazareth
Senior pitcher Tyler Duff pitched a complete game shutout to lead the Parkland Trojans to a 2-0 victory in their first conference game of the year against the Nazareth Blue Eagles. Duff scattered five Blue Eagle hits, all singles, while striking out eight. Duff had Nazareth batters off balance all game with a good mix of fastballs and off-speed pitches. Parkland's defense behind Duff turned three double plays. After Nazareth managed to put the tying runs on base in the bottom of the 7th inning with two outs, Duff ended the threat and the game with a breaking ball over the plate for a called third strike.
At the plate, the Trojans struck quickly again in the first innning with an RBI single by Chris Rabasco (1-4, RBI) to give Parkland a 1-0 lead. The score remained at 1-0 until the 5th inning when Tyler Graeff (1-4, 2B, RBI) doubled down the left field line to bring home an insurance run for a Trojan 2-0 lead. Both Damin Muth (2-3, HBP) and Jordan Jones (2-3) had multiple hit games to lead the Trojan offense, while Aidan Flynn (1-3) and Hudson Rabenold (1-3) each added singles.
