JV's Defeat Governor Mifflin, 4-2

Posted by John Rabasco on Apr 24 2013 at 05:00PM PDT in 2019 Varsity

Trailing 1-0 entering the 5th inning, Parkland's Braeden Duff beat out an infield hit and advanced to second base on a throwing error by the pitcher.  Kyle Novobilski followed with a sacrifice bunt, but was safe at first when the pitcher bobbled the ball.  With runners on first and third, Tyler Bruno hit a sacrifice fly to score Duff and even the game at 1-1.  Jeff Strisovsky then hit a double to right-center to put runners on second and third.  Dan Zaccaro then cleared the bases with a 2-RBI double to deep left field putting the Trojans up by a score of 3-1.  After John Amato courtesy ran for Zaccaro, Amato moved to third on a wild pitch, and then scored on another sacrifice fly by Tanner Stufflet.

Duff also pitched for the Trojans and earned the win working six effective innings, allowing only one run while striking out five.  Strisovsky earned the save by striking out one batter.  Governor Mifflin left the bases loaded in the 7th.

Defensive gems were provided by Harrison Rabenold who backhanded a shot down the third base line and gunning down the batter at first base.  Bruno maded two diving plays to his left to rob Governor Mifflin batters of two hits, and Strisovsky made a sliding catch in left field.
