Higgins Verbally Commits to Indiana

Posted by John Rabasco on Dec 16 2013 at 04:00PM PST in 2019 Varsity

Junior pitcher Connor Higgins verbally committed to play baseball at Indiana University on athletic scholarship.  The Hoosiers play in the Division I Big Ten Conference where last season they debuted their new $20 million dollar baseball stadium, while also winning the conference championship and competed at the College World Series.  Indiana's Coach Tracy Smith was named 2013 National Coach of the Year.  Higgins still has his high school junior and senior baseball seasons to look forward to before joining the Hoosiers for the 2015-2016 academic year.   Higgins plans to major in business.

Connor was recruited by several schools and visited many over the past several months, including Michigan, Virginia Tech, UNC-Greensboro, Pitt, Duke, Penn State, Air Force, and Notre Dame.  In choosing Indiana, Connor "felt very comfortable with the school, baseball staff, academic advisors, students and the program."  His parents agreed.  "After the initial offer, Coach Smith gave me and my family time to visit other schools to make sure IU was the right school for me," Higgins added.  Higgins visited the Indiana campus twice and both times knew it was the right place for him to continue his education and play baseball.

Congratulations to Connor and his family!
