Parkland High School Baseball

Parkland wasted no time to make a statement batting all nine batters to score four runs in the top of the 1st inning. Harsha Bollu (2-4, 3R, BB) and Ben Trinkle (2-3, 1R, 2 RBI, BB) led off the innnig with singles.  A Pleasant Valley error allowed Bollu to score and put runners at second and third. Austin Mueller (1-5, R, RBI) came through with an RBI single to score a run.  Matt Mellinger (2-3, RBI, 2B) hit an RBI double to score another run. Braeden Duff (1-2, 2R, RBI, 2 BB) singled to score Mueller.  Pleasant Valley scored their lone run of the game in the bottom of the 1st inning. Starting pitcher Harsha Bollu (6IP, R, 3H, 5SO, 3BB, 1 HB) dominated the Pleasant Valley offense through six innings of work on the mound.  PV scored on one walk and two base hits.

Parkland answered in the top of the 2nd inning when Bollu and Trinkle walked.   Michael Jenkins (1-2, R, 2 RBI) then drove in Bollu with an RBI single to make it 5-1.  In the 3rd inning, Parkland put three more runs on the board on a walk to Duff, a PV error, and a Bollu single to load the bases for Trinkle, who drove in two with a 2-RBI base hit.  Jenkins ten followed with an RBI sacrifice fly to increase Parkland's lead to 8-1.

Parkland scored another run in the 4th ining when Mellinger singled followed by Duff reaching base on a fielder's choice.  Ethan Imler (1-4, R, RBI) then doubled over the right fielder's head to score Duff.  With two outs in the top of the 5th inning, pinch hitter Ryan Giovenco (0-1, BB, R) reached base on a much earned base-on-balls when he exhausted the PV pitcher with a 10-pitch at-bat.   Kyle Friebolin (1-4, RBI, 2b) then plated Giovenco with an RBI double to give the Trojans the 10-1 lead.  Relief pitcher Michael Jenkins (1IP, 3 SO, BB) came on in relief in the 7th inning and struck out the side to end the game for the 10-1 win.
