Posted by John Rabasco on May 01 2014 at 05:00PM PDT in 2019 Varsity
After losing to Whitehall earlier in the season, the JV Parkland Trojans came out with strong pitching, errorless defense, and solid offense, for a convincing 8-1 win.

Starting pitcher Michael Jenkins (7IP, 1R, 3H, 9 SO, 1BB, 1HB) pitched a complete game 3-hitter and shut down Whitehall's offense the entire game.  In the bottom of the 1st, Parkland got an early run when Andrew Roth (0-2, R, BB, SB) walked, stole second, Kyle Novobilski (2-3, R) singled, then Austin Mueller (1-2, R, RBI, SAC) hit a sacrifice fly to score Roth.

Whitehall scored their only run of the game in the 3rd inning on a base hit, HBP, and a couple of ground outs to score. The Trojans answered right back in the bottom of the third.  Novobilski and Mueller singled, Kyle Friebolin (1-3,R) hit a long fly ball to the warning track in centerfield to move the runners up.   Ben Trinkle (2-3, 2R, RBI) followed with an RBI single to plate Novobilski and Mueller scored on a Zephyr throwing error.   Ethan Imler (3-3, R, RBI) singled to make it first and third.  Imler stole second and Trinkle scored on another throwing error.   Matt Mellinger (2-3, 2B, R, SB) singled then stole second followed by a Braeden Duff (02-, RBI) ground out to score Imler.  On a Whitehall wild pitch Mellinger scored to make it 6-1 after 3 innings.

Jenkins shuts down the Zephyr's offense in order in the 4th and 5th.  Parkland put two more runs on the board in the bottom of the 5th.   Friebolin led off with a single, Trinkle doubled to left center, and Imler drove in Friebolin with an RBI single.  With two outs in the inning, Harsha Bollu (1-3, RBI) camethrough with a hit to score Trinkle to make it 8-1.  Jenkins finished strong in the top of the 6th and 7th to secure the Parkland win 8-1.
