Ryan Giovenco tossed a 4-hit complete game to lead the JV Trojans in an impressive 8-2 win over the Whitehall Zephyrs.  Giovenco and the Trojan defense combined to retire the first 12 Zephyr batters, 8 by strikeout.  The first Zephyr hit of the game came in the top of the 5th, but was erased by a Parkland 5-4-3 double play.  In the 2nd inning, the Trojan defense also doubled off a runner who had reached base on error, on a fly ball to center.   Giovenco finished the game with 10 strikeouts, while allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks.  The Trojan offense continued its balanced attack spreading 11 hits among 8 batters to score its 8 runs.

Ryan Giovenco (2 for 3, double, 2R, RBI) singled to get the Trojans started in the bottom of the 1st.  An Ethan Imler (1 for 3, double) double moved Giovenco to third.  A ground ball by Nate Markowicz (1 for 2, double, 2R, RBI) scored Giovenco for an early 1-0 lead.  Parkland added to their lead with 2 runs in the third.  Giovenco led off the inning with a double down the left field line and scored on a Matt Mellinger (1 for 1, R, RBI) sacrifice fly.  Markowicz followed with a double and scored on a Nick Stillittano (2 for 3, triple, R, 3 RBI) triple on a deep fly ball to left field to take a 3-0 lead.  The Trojans added another run in the fourth inning on back to back singles by Colin Calpin (1 for 2, BB, 2R) and Scott Hudock (2 for 3) and a sacrifice fly by Giovenco that scored Calpin.

The Trojans put the game out of reach in the bottom of the 5th scoring 4 runs to take an 8-0 lead.  Mellinger led off with a single followed by a Markowicz walk.  Stillittano singled to score Mellinger and Markowicz.  Calpin followed with a walk and the runners moved up to 2nd and 3rd on a Hudock ground ball.  Joey Bolick (1 for 4, 2 RBI) singled to score Stillittano and Calpin.  The Zephyrs attempted a rally in the top of the 7th scoring 2 runs, but Giovenco closed the door striking out his tenth batter to end the game for the 8-2 victory.
