JV Trojans, Algard Blank Pocono Mountain West 10-0

The JV team shut out Pocono Mountain West with timely hitting and dominant pitching. The Trojans put up three runs in the first inning after Adam Mellinger got things started with a lead-off walk and Anderson Hummer was hit by a pitch. Dylan Snyder loaded the bases with a single and Will Algard hit a sac fly to get the scoring started. Justin Petrisko capped the inning with a 2 RBI double.
Joe Webber’s wheels put him on 2nd base to lead off the 4th inning after a costly error by the PMW outfield. He stole 3rd and beat the throw home on a Mellinger fielder’s choice. Hummer singled, scoring Mellinger to increase the Trojan lead to 5-0.
Ethan Russell walked to start the four-run 5th inning. He stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on a passed ball and scored on Sergio Rodriguez’s 2-out RBI single. Mellinger reached on a PMW error and Hummer doubled to score both Rodriguez and Mellinger for a 9-0 Parkland lead.
A Dylan Miller double in the 6th inning followed by a Webber RBI single ended the game in a 10-0 mercy.
Will Algard hurled the complete-game shutout, allowing just 3 hits, no walks, striking out 8 PMW batters through 6 innings of work.
