Josh Miiller led the way for Parkland as he pitched a complete game shutout against arch rival Whitehall. Josh pitched 5 innings in the mercy rule game where Parkland put up 10 runs to continue their high scoring ways during their 3 game winning streak. Josh also drove in the first run in the bottom of the first as he hit a flare to right center that saw Parker Swartz (1 hit down the line and 2 bases on balls) score. In the 3rd inning, hitting star TJ Khela (hit a scorcher up the middle with 2 outs driving in 2 runs making the score 3 to 0. Jon Maner (1 for 2) and Josh and Nikhil were all on base when TJ got his clutch hit. TJ’s 2 rbi’s were just the start of the big game for him as he was able to come through in the 4th as well with another 2 run single making him 2 for 2 with an additional walk. In the 4th inning, Jack Giovenco had a great inning as he had 2 hits in the inning, including a 2 run single. The 2 hits combined with his catching duties where he threw out a runner shows what an impact he can make. The Trojan 9 were able to knock the Whitehall pitcher out of the game with hits by Chris Lessel, Swartz and a hard hit by Nikhil Patel that seemed to surprise the second basemen. A line drive single by Drew Sorrentino, a walk to Owen Lehr and then the TJ Khela single was all the Trojans needed if they could just hold Whitehall in the 5th. Josh Miiller kept throwing strikes and only let 2 batters get hits for the Zephyrs. In this game of strong pitching and timely offense, the game would not be over until the versatile Joe Algard put his stamp on the game by running down a twisting line drive by the lefty hitter from Whitehall. Joe dazzled the crowd with the amount of outfield he covered while stretching his left arm out to make the final out in the left centerfield gap to help win the game and stop it from going any extended innings. The catch was one to make a parent proud! With the 10 to 0 win, the team is starting to find its rhythm as they are now 4 and 3 with several competitive games on the schedule for the next 2 weeks.
