JV drops close one to Northampton on the road

In a very competitive game played at Northampton High School, the Trojan JV team lost 6 to 5 in 8 innings. The Trojans took a 2 to 0 lead in the first after a Luke Dauberman (1 for 3, 1BB and 2 runs scored) line drive single to center and a single by Nikhil Patel (3 for 3 and a walk) that slammed off the pitchers foot and bounced to right field. This brought to bat Josh Miller who promptly hit a line drive single to right center plating both of his teammates. Northampton battled back throughout the game eventually taking a 4 to 2 lead. In the 5th inning, the Trojan 9 started a 2 out rally as Dean Scott’s speed was a big contributor in this inning as he was able to beat out a throw for an infield single. After an error by Northampton, Joe Algard (1 for 4 with 1 run scored 2 RBI) hit a clutch double that landed just inside the right field foul line. With the speed on the bases of Scott and Dauberman, both runners were able to score. The next batter was the hitting star of the game. Patel hit a rope to right field carrying over the right fielders outstretched glove. The double knocked in Algard. Northampton battled back ultimately tying the game in the bottom of the 5th. In the 6th inning, a well played rundown play on an attempted suicide squeeze bunt play helped thwart a Konkrete Kids rally in the 6th. Both teams had their chances in the 7th, but a nice hit that found open spaces in the 8th was the ultimate game winner for Northampton as they won the game 6 to 5. Patel and Ernst pitched well enough to win, but it just wasn’t our day.
