Trojan JV Bats go silent in loss to North Penn

Posted by Rich Kinsley on Apr 14 2018 at 05:00PM PDT in 2019 Varsity
On what many considered the most perfect day of the year, with sunny skies and 85 degree temperatures, the Trojan JV Bats were not as hot as the weather. Playing on the JV home field, the game sped quickly along with quick innings for both of the teams. The experienced North Penn squad had pitchers that were consistently throwing strikes and that turned out to be the difference in the game. With no walks given up and only 3 hits for the Trojan JV Team, it was difficult to build any momentum in any inning. The pitching duo of Drew Sorrentino and TJ Khela pitched pitched well, accumulating 12 strike outs between them, but the lack of any real offense behind them made this a difficult game to get the come from behind win. Only singles by designated hitter Kevin Santos and Bryce Ratliff were the first 2 hits for the team. In the final inning, the team tried to rally after Jon Maner hit a crushing drive to deep left center enabling him to get to 3rd on his first triple of the year. Nick Ernst then hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield which delivered the one and only run for the Trojans. The final score was North Penn 4…..Parkland 1. With 5 games in 6 days next week, the JV Squad will be motivated to develop a nice winning streak going into the final weeks of the season.
