JV's Lose to Whitehall

Parkland JV starting pitcher Ryan Giovenco (5 2/3 IP, 6 run, 5 ER, 4 hits, 8 SO, 5 BB) shut down Whitehall for the first 3 innings of the game.   Parkland's offense got started in the second inning when with 1 out, a Whitehall error allowed a runner to reach base.  Ethan Imler (1-3, R) singled down the left field line and advanced to second base on the throw to make it 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.  EJ Brandt (1-2, 2 RBI) singled to drive in both runs and make it 2-0 Trojans.   PitcherRyan Giovenco (1-2) helped himself out at the plate, hitting a single, which was followed by a walk to Tanner Vitovitch (0-1) to load the bases, but Parkland could not capitalize.

In the fourth inning , Whitehall got on the board with a walk, a hit and a Parkland error, to make it 2-2 after four innings of play.   In the 5th inning, Ben Trinkle (3-4) led off with a single and he moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt.  Mike Jenkins (1-4) also singled in the inning, but Parkland could not plate any runs.  Whitehall scored four runs in the bottom of the 5th, when Parkland allowed two walks and three doubles.  Matt Mellinger (1 1/3 IP, 2 H, 2 SO) came on to pitch in relief and got the final out to end the 5th innning with Whitehall leading by a score of 6-2.

After a quiet 6th inning, pinch hitter Braedan Duff (1-1) singled and Trinkle singled in the 7th inning to start a Trojan comeback, but they would be stranded on base and the game ended with a loss by a score of 6-2.
