Trojans travel to Hazelton again, this time get to play and win
The game that made many wander whether it was meant to be played or not, finally occured in Hazelton on Friday, after a reschedule, a road trip to Hazelton that resulted in no game being played due to field conditions and then to top it off on the way to the game the bus blew a tire and the team had to wait for a new bus to get them to the game in the mountains. With the game finally underway CK Kinsley led off with a single and Joe Webber came in as a courtesy runner, Jared Kuharchuck singled and Wadsworth walked to load the bases, Adam Mellinger then scored Webber with a Sac Fly to CF and a 1-0 Trojan lead. Wadsworth then took 2nd on a wild pitch and Will Algard scored Kuharchuck grounding into a fielders choice with Wadsworth advancing to third. Hani Kitabwalla then walked and Matt Ervolina plated Wadsworth with a Sac Fly and a 3-0 Trojan lead after the top of the 1st. The Trojans then wen in order in the 2nd and 3rd inning.
The Trojans drove the lead to 4-0 in the Top of the 4th after Matt Ervolina singled and advanced to 3rd on a Alex Oliver single and then scored on a Ethan Russell SacFly to LF. From the mound CK Kinsley and battery mate Ethan Russell & the Trojans kept the Cougars off the board until the 4th inning when they were able to plate 2 runs and cut the Trojan lead to 4-2. On the day Kinsley was just what the Trojans Staff needed going deep in the game pitching 6 and 1/3 innings striking out 3 until Alex Oliver relieved him in the 7th and got the final 2 outs of the game.
The Trojans put a couple more on the board in the Top of the 6th after Will Algard ROE, Hani Kitabwalla singled and Matt Ervolina walked to load the bases. Ethan Russell then plated Algard with a SacFly to LF to make it 5-2 then CK Kinsley singled driving in Hani Kitabwalla pushing the lead to 4 at 6-2. The Cougars got their final run of the day in the bottom of the 6th to make it 6-3. Will Algard singled in the Top of the 7th but was LOB. After getting the first out in the bottom of the 7th CK Kinsley was relieved by Alex Oliver with a man on first. After a single Alex Oliver induced a pop up to the infield and the struck out the batter for the third out securing the Trojan Victory
Trojans spot ACC 7 but offense throws up 13 in 13-9 comeback win
On a day at Sammy Balliet Stadium that feature 80 + temperatures and a torrential downpour resulting in a rain delay the Trojans Offense bowed it's back and picked up the pitching staff in a 13-9 comeback effort. After spotting the ACC Vikings a 7-0 lead after 2 innings, Phil Schoch came on in relief and got not only the victory but the game under control, as the defense helped him to lock the game down so the Trojan Offense could go to work, claiming the lead in the 5th inning to defeat Allentown Central Catholic 13-9 on Thursday. The game was tied at nine with the Trojans batting in the top of the fifth when Dylan Miller doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. The Trojan Offense was boosted on this day by Adam Mellinger who went 4-for-4 at the plate. Mellinger doubled in the third, singled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth. Phillip Schoch pitched well for the Trojans and kept ACC in check while going two and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out four. Koby Staivecki threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Staivecki recorded the last six outs to earn the save for the Trojans, and was the beneficiary of a momentum killing CK Kinsley to Ervolina to Will Algard DPlay at one point that thwarted any comeback thoughts the ACC Vikings may have had. A.J. Palumbo got the start for the Trojans. Mellinger went 3-for-4 (1 BB, 2 runs, 2 RBI) at the plate to lead the Trojans in hits; as the offense logged 12 hits and 6 walks on the day as the Trojan Offense refused to lose to the Vikings. Other contributors on offense to the come from behind victory were: Christian Kinsley (1-4, 2 runs, 1 BB,1 RBI) Cullan Wadsworth (1-2, 1 BB, 2HBP, 1 run), Dylan Miller (2-5, 2 Runs, 2 RBI) Will Algard (1-3, 2 runs, 1 BB, 2 RBI) Jeremy Piatkiewicz (1-3, 1 run, 1BB 3 RBI), George Jenkins (1-2, 1BB), Matt Ervolina (1-4, 1 run, 1 RBI).
