News and Announcements

Parkland Athletics Protocols for Offseason workouts:
• Everyone must wear a mask before, during and after the work outs
• All athletes must bring their own water
• All athletes must fill out the wellness for before they arrive, if they fill it out for school that day, they do not need to fill it out again.
• No locker rooms will be available
• When the work out is over, athletes must leave
• Do not show up for workouts more than 15 minutes before your scheduled time
• Masks must be worn when entering and exiting the work out (Building)
• Coaches must fill out the wellness form before the work out each day
• If the athlete does not feel well that day, they may not attend

Parkland Baseball Specific Comments:
• Due to restrictions we CANNOT share equipment like helmets, bats and catcher’s gear. Please bring your own for intramurals.
• Do your best not to get to the workouts too early. The school says no earlier than 15 minutes. We want to eliminate having large groups standing in the hallway. If you drive yourself stay in your car until 5 minutes before the workout.
• When your portion of the workout is over you must leave. We are going to do our best to have timeslots for smaller groups to limit risk but that will only work if athletes leave the premises when their portion of the workout is over.
• We must do our best to follow these guidelines. Our ability to have a season will depend on it. Consider the ability to follow these guidelines as the first thing you are being evaluated on.

Parkland’s Free Spring Sports physicals will be held on Saturday, February 20 at the High School Auxiliary Gym, time slots offered 8am to 11:30am. Appointments will be offered every 15 minutes. Please have your PIAA physical form filled out and ready when you come for your physical appointment. Available on the www.parklandsd.org website under departments, forms.

If interested players should sign up on Sign up Genius, there is a link on the athletic webpage, www.parklandsd.org, departments, athletics (main page). 9 – 12 graders need to have an ImPACT test done, once in their 4 years of high school, but before they ever tryout for a sport. This information is also on our athletic webpage, students can do this at home on their Chromebooks.

If a student has had a PIAA physical done for this school year 20-21 (Fall or Winter sport) they only need to have a recert, PIAA section 7 completed and turned in to the athletic office. This form is also on line, www.parklandsd.org website under departments, forms (found on the right hand side of the main page).

Any questions please contact the Parkland Athletic Office.

September 19 Update and Sign Up form

Posted by Kurt Weber at Sep 19, 2020 11:31AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

I have been getting a lot of questions about the status of high school baseball at Parkland. This is natural because by now in a normal year we would have met and discussed the program and even started our open field Wednesday nights. As you all know this will not be a normal year. The priority of the school is currently the fall sport season as it should be. The next priority will be the winter sports since they are chronologically next. As for spring sports, at this time, we can not have organized workouts nor can we open the field for our athletes to use on their own. We do not have access to the weight room to run our normal off season lifting and conditioning. The current hope is that we will be able to start to do something closer to the December time frame. This of course is contingent on how everything goes between now and then. The rules and expectations are constantly changing…for the better at times and for the worse at times. As things change I will update everyone as best I can. In the interim I encourage everyone to prepare as best they can via fall baseball teams, personal workouts, personal trainers, etc. The goal would be to be healthy and ready whenever we are given the green light to do organized workouts.

If you intend on trying out in the spring please fill out the following SignUp Form so we have current contact information. I also suggest you look for future announcements in school, follow our twitter account @TrojanSandlot, and register on this website so you are notified when new announcements are posted.

Stay safe. I am looking forward to our season.

7/16 Update

Posted by Kurt Weber at Jul 16, 2020 11:18AM PDT

We were just notified that winter and spring sport workouts can not start until the start of school (it was previously 7/23). This does not impact baseball’s normal plan but I want to pass updates along as they are given to me. Obviously this schedule is subject to change. -Coach Weber
